It took long enough to come up with a title for the book, but almost as soon as I finally managed, my editor sent me the initial cover art. I thought it was great, and said so. I didn’t share it with the world though, as these things are often subject to change, and generally kept under embargo. There’s the small fact that The Hangman’s Song hasn’t been published yet, either, so any focus on the next book after that is going to dilute the message a little.
Today, however, I found out that the book is being advertised on Amazon, with a publication date of July 3rd 2014. Yup, just six months away, you lucky people. And here is the cover.
You can pre-order here, but equally you can go and talk to your local bookshop and I’m sure they’ll get a copy in for you to pick up on publication day.
In the meantime, it’s only a little over three weeks until this one comes out.

Ive pre ordered third book but cant pre order dead mens bones yet its not an option on kindle yet cant wait to read both books im hooked keep up the good work
I’m listening to “Natural Causes”, again! I’ll then listen to “The Book of Souls”, again! By then I should be a few days nearer to getting “The Hangman’s Song”. Everything that can be pre-ordered is! Not really hooked on Mr Oswald’s books! Great work James, keep them coming.
Woo hoo, can’t wait for the next one especially as I’ve just seen on Amazon that it is being published on a very special day for me. Tho’ given that Book of Souls sneaked out early I’ll maybe need to keep my eyes peeled, and possibly away from Adsa in Bearsden as I’m not sure if I’m allowed back after I shared my ‘excitement’ and insisted others bought it too! So hoping you are doing some signings as well. This series is going from strength to strength as Hangman’s Song was fab.
